Learning to Obey

“Why did we stop?”

“Looks like there’s a protest in the middle of the road. We’re not going anywhere for a while.”

A group of young adults in Panama had the opportunity to teach several four-fields training with a people group in a remote area of Panama. As they embarked on their 8 hour drive, they reviewed the content they would cover. But this roadblock was not part of their plan.

“Hey, since everyone else is waiting too, why don’t we share the good news with them?” They scurried out of the minivan and started sharing with other travelers who were waiting for the road to clear. Some of the people were very interested to learn about Jesus!

They arrived at the village late that evening where people were waiting.

“Can you start the training now?”

“Now?” they asked considering the late hour and arduous day of travel.

“Yes, some of these people walked two hours one way to hear you today.”

Thus the training started that evening. They trained in several locations over several days, and in one location the training went late into the evening but there were people who desired to get baptized. “Let’s do it now.” So at 12:30am, they located a barrel and baptized in the wee hours of the night.

One tribal pastor thought that only pastors had authority to baptize people, but after he walked through the Scripture in the baptism hammer, he was asked, “What do you think?”
He replied, “I need to obey God.”

Pray for kingdom growth in Panama!
